Open Door Project Manager Role
Open Door is an innovative new project focused on enabling talented young people who have limited resources and financial support to successfully attain a place at one of Britain's top Drama schools. Supported by Arts Council England, Open Door is a response to the escalating problem of the lack of representation of people from working class backgrounds within the performing arts. We offer a viable and accessible route to career level training.
Through engagement with schools and local youth arts organisations Open Door will source and audition three-hundred young people from low income backgrounds applying for drama school intake 2018. Thirty successful applicants will receive 10 bespoke performance and audition technique workshops. Of those thirty, eight will receive further support, including one-to-one tutoring from industry professionals, bursary and funding advice and exemption from drama school audition fee.
Open Door already enjoys huge support from the industry, with theatres including The Royal Court, The Soho Theatre, The Pleasance Theatre and The Donmar pledging support and resources. Open Door Patrons include Emmy award winning Woody Harrelson, Game Of Thrones actor Emilia Clarke, and BAFTA nominated David Morrissey.
